MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Well things are moving along in the Grand Canyon State. Kids are getting excited about Christmas.

Deric just got over pneumonia, and now Kelly and Destiny have been pretty sick the past couple of days. Just can't seem to get the bug out of our house (even though we have the windows and doors open all day:).

Big news is Kelly finally received compensation for the job she's been doing. FINALLY:) Yippee!!!
She got about 1/2 of what was promised, but the plan now is to get the other 1/2 in April. We'll take it (she's a lot happier about it now).

Cierra and Brianna will be seeing the eye doctor again after the New Year and probably be wearing glasses shortly after that. Destiny keeps begging to get some too. Wow when I had to get them, I didn't think it was fun at all. Cierra also will need braces in 2010, probably do that around the September time frame. The joy of raising kids:)

Deric will have 3 tournaments in about a 4 week period (Dec 27-30, in Arizona - Jan 8-10, in Milwaukee and Jan 15-18 back in Arizona). Busy, busy, busy.

Nothing new with me, I'm just "LIVING THE DREAM"!!

Before you know it, Spring Training will be underway. I can see the Cubs moving to Florida now that I'm down here (time to switch to the Brewers - NOT!). Chicago Blackhawks will be here in March too. Looks like the Packers might be here twice in January (that's if they even make the playoffs).

HAPPY TURKEY WEEKEND EVERYBODY:)

Well what's been going on in the Storbeck household......hhhmmmmm:)

We are the Energizer Bunny Family i think - going, going, and more going.

Destiny is off her medication for her seizures so we have to watch for any signs of them. She made student of the month this year and is doing very well in school. She really loves it.

Brianna is doing well. She is the only one of the kids that didn't get sick the first quarter and she made perfect attendance, shortly after that she was off a couple of days with the flu. She went to eye doctor and he says she needs glasses, so we'll be taking care of that next. She's loving the weather, playing outside all the time and meeting new kids in the neighborhood.

Cierra is done with Cross-Country and finished very well. Mom & Dad are proud of her efforts. Cierra made Honor Roll in the first quarter, it's the first time and she is SSSSSSSOOOOOOO proud (so were Mom & Dad)!!! Cierra also is in the needs glasses category.

Deric is playing great hockey. Again he leads the team in scoring, he's a monster on ice. He also is a certified referee and ref-ed his first game last weekend (didn't like it as much as he though, we'll see where this goes). He's getting HUGE (155 pounds, I didn't weigh that until I came back from Military Basic Training at age 21). He'll turn 14 in December. Rough year health wise for DJ, he's had H1N1 flu and now has been home this week with Pneumonia.

Mom is doing well. Supposedly her job is going to be upgraded (heard that before) and she'll get a significant raise sometime in January (hopefully). She's still at the kitchen table for a couple of hours a night before dad gets home, doing homework with the girls. It must work, because their grades are showing it. Kelly celebrated her 44th birthday on November 23rd. We had Norman, Norm, Jimmy and Jeannie over and cooked out on the grill. The girls all made Mom their own special birthday cards, which made mom very happy!

Dad, well dad is dad. Still working (thank god) though classes are getting smaller with not a huge future in the airline industry, but things are looking better starting in April (double course). Still enjoying the weather and sipping a few cocktails now and then outside. Coaching this year has been the toughest ever. Parents bitching, kids quitting, kids crying (yes crying at the Bantam level), but yet for some ungodly reason I continue (I can't give up on the kids, that's what it's all about). The team is getting better and we are starting to compete better. As I told the parents in the beginning, it's going to be a marathon not a sprint and to be patient (I think they forgot this part of it). Oh well this is my last year of coaching, next year I'm going to sit back and actually enjoy watching DJ play.

The family is going to be in Wisconsin on Thursday evening January 7th for a hockey tournament that begins on Saturday, January 9th. We'll be flying back home on Tuesday morning, January 12th. Hopefully we'll get to see some of you either for a beer or at the hockey rink (OR BOTH!!). This will be the longest vacation we have had since we moved to Arizona (that sucks).

I think I've updated you on the family. The kids are getting bigger everyday. Hope to catch you in WI in January (what? Are we stupid or something? January??) Nuts!

Fall has begun!!

Well the temps are back in the 80's & 90's, it's beautiful:) Kids are outside all the time. They play up & down the road, in the greenbelt and occasionally walk to the store (right in back of the house). The ice cream man seems to know where to come to on the weekends $$$$$. I guess the ice cream we buy at the store just can't compete:). It's fun watching their faces as soon as they hear the music.

Well not much has changed in the great state of Arizona.

Deric is in hockey and that's in full bloom now. Tournaments in California, Wisconsin and a weekend in Las Vegas (league games). Have to find a part time job to keep up with this travel thing.

Girls haven't joined dance yet, but that will be coming up too. This will be mom's travel:)

Cierra has an outdoor education trip this week (camping trip for school). Three day, two night trip up north a bit. She can't wait.

School is going well, seems everyone is doing just fine.

Kelly working long hours this weekend as the company is adding a new computer program and she'll be doing all the training for it.

We'll need the extra cash - both trucks have problems and haven't gotten her's back from the shop yet (not pretty). OUCH$$$$

As for me, same - same.

Hoping the Packers can start playing like they did in pre-season (where the hell did the defense go????) All that trickery in pre-season was just a smoke screen I guess. Thank god for Taucher coming back!!!!!

July, July, July!!!

Well it's warming up in the great state of AZ. This week is been over 110 just about everyday. Should stay there for awhile (at least it's consistent, not like WI). I can't remember the last time it rained here (and it's monsoon season too.) Nothing has changed around here except that Jason is now living with us (anyone else???). What a house full. We make it work for now. He had a paperwork interview with the HR office at Frito Lay in downtown Phoenix, and they are looking for someone in there warehouse on 51st ave and the 101 (about 20 miles from our house). So he's hoping to get an interview with the warehouse supervisor soon.

The kids have been pretty much swimming and playing with friends around the neighborhood for the summer. I think the girls are starting to get antsy for school to start. Mom starting to pickup supplies and clothes so I imagine that's why the girls are antsy. Deric probably doesn't really care. He's gone half the week at someone's house for a sleepover or we have one of his friends over night by us (just what we need). We'll have to build a second floor.

Hockey starts up on July 28th. Practice begins that week, and then the following week we will start the team with off-ice training in the Inside Edge facility at the rink twice a week. Our first games will be during the Labor Day tournament here in town. We will probably be in a tournament every month of the season. The big one for us is that "WE WILL" be traveling to Milwaukee in January. We already committed the team to that tournament on January 9-10th. Our family will probably come up a few days earlier so we can see everyone. Can't leave down here until after the Packers play the Cardinals (Jan. 3rd). Then we have to be back in time to play in the MLK tournament we are hosting on January 15-18. Busy, busy, busy during hockey season. We will also be in Riverside, California October 23-25 (see you there Tootie!!).

Well Kelly was totally P.O'ed when she received a 55cent raise this past week. All that she has done for the company I guess wasn't really appreciated. She has let them know how she feels, so we'll see if anything comes of it (probably a pink slip). She is looking elsewhere in the company and also outside the company too. She does have some in's with upper management so she will be talking with them in the next couple weeks.

Me, same "OLD" shit. Can't keep enough beer in the fridge during these summer nights:). It's been great catching up with a few of you on facebook and chatting for awhile. Stay in touch.

While the Cubs look to be coming on (3 or 4 runs a game, thank god for the pitching). So we'll see where they end up. I don't expect much if they even make the playoffs. The Phoenix Coyotes are still here and they will have the Blackhawks here twice this year so we'll probably catch at least 1 of those, hopefully.

Once it cools down a bit, Jason and I will be hitting the links. I haven't golf a whole lot and I need to get out (i actually miss it). Cierra is interested too, so I suppose dad will have to take her with and teach her to do the exact opposite of me:).

Well it's June:)

Temperatures around here have been fantastic. Only had a handful of 100's days so far. Not suppose to make it to triple digits until Friday.

Things are going well (we both have jobs!!!).

Not much has changed around the household. Kids have been off school over a month now. Mom and Dad are at work all day and no vacation in sight. (bummer).

Last weekend the family didn't do a thing. Spent most of the time in the front watching the girls ride their bikes during the day and at night sitting on the back porch having a couple porch beers and playing "Go Fish" with the girls!!

We still get up to the rink a couple times a week and the girls have a blast playing with the other girls running around. We have about 12/13 skaters signed for the Bantam team so far. One of the other organizations didn't have enough skaters to start a team, so we are trying to get a couple of those players to round our team out.

Girls have been getting a lot of swim time in. We do have to say the pools are still chilly (low 80's), that's cool for us.......Should be a lot warmer in a couple of weeks (then I'll go in).

Kelly's dad is recovering well from his open heart surgery. He is back to driving.

Haven't seen much of Deric lately, with sleepovers and birthday parties and whatever else he has. I didn't recognize him when he walked in the house tonight (ah, just kidding), but that's what we told him.

Kelly and I have fixed up some of the house. We put new ceiling fans up in every room and a brand new kitchen sink in (she really wanted this) and a garage door opener (yippee). Believe it or not, I did it all myself (except for the garage) and everything works:)

Jason is moving down here next week. He hasn't found work, so he figured "what the hell".

School ends tomorrow for the kids. No honor rolls, but both were very close.

Cierra got a lot of phone numbers from the kids in her class, so hopefully some summer fun for her. She also took a big spill on here "NEW" bike this past week and has some big scrapes on her knee and elbow.

Deric asked tonight to take a girl to a movie (we are in trouble now). Thank GOD, it's with a few other friends. He also attended a hockey practice tonight with 16AA kids and perform very well. The practice is every Wednesday and he wants to continue......

Destiny went with Mom tonight and got hair cuts. I think she should grow it long, but she wants it short (so she wins).

April 2009

Well let's see what's happened since we stop our blogging........um

Hockey is over (for now) yippee!!! OK tryouts start up again this weekend and then on a monthly basis to fill out the teams. I received the Head Coaching position for the Bantam A team. Not sure yet if we'll have enough talent to be an A team and not sure how many kids will actually tryout. So I'm kind of on hold for that. We may end up with 1 "B" team and they told me if that happens I would coach that one. Got to attend some Cubs spring training games with my brothers. It was great to see them again and consume a few ice cold beverages with them:)
Work is going well, love the people and work that I do.

Kelly had been round and round with her management about her new position. Right now she's doing the job of 2 (her old job and the RN that was moved out of there), but no raise came with it as promised. She now has a year with the company so she is eligible to start applying for other positions, so she is on the look out.

Deric had a great day at the "Field Day" competition just before Spring break. He did so well the track coach asked him to participate in the Track & Field events for the school. That took place this past Tuesday night. He took second in the 100meter run, shot-put, and the 4 X 100 relay. He now advances to district. WOW, this was a total surprise to us. He loves it.

Cierra is doing very well. She just celebrated her 10th birthday this past week. She had her first hockey tryout last night and did very well. She is trying out for a travel team again. It will be up to her if she wants to continue or Mom has offered her dance class. We'll see where this goes:)

Destiny also celebrated a birthday last week (#6). She will be joining a dance class this summer. She is still on her meds for epileptic seizures. She still has the brain waves of seizures but they are very minimal compared to this time last year. Hopefully she will grow out of them.

The family is still somewhat in shock over the passing of Kelly's mother about a month ago. Holiday's will be tough for a while. She will be missed tremendously. The viewing with the family went well, Destiny would not leave grandma's side. The next day we let a bunch of Mickey Mouse balloonS go and also Butterfly's in her memory. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this very, very emotional time.

Jason was here for about a month (leaving today). Jason should be back, he's looking for a job here. JR and I attended our first NASCAR race this past Saturday - it was AWESOME. I'd go again. I'd have to find some better seating, but I was happy:)

We had our first 100 degree day yesterday - It was BEAUTIFUL:)

The PACKERS will be in the "Valley of the Sun", twice this year - I'll make sure to be at the regular season matchup!!!
